The Unique Lives series for the year 2000 comprised all women speakers. I think the 2001 series did as well, but I only attended the first two. In terms of the audiences, in general, it looked to be about 3000 women and 200 gay men.
Date | Speaker | Venue | Comments |
---|---|---|---|
02/15/2000 | Joan Rivers | Memorial Auditorium | First in the Unique Lives series. Joan was hysterical. |
03/01/2000 | Lesley Stahl | Memorial Auditorium | Second in the series. |
04/05/2000 | Gloria Steinem | Memorial Auditorium | Third in the series. I didn’t think much of Gloria before I attended. I left a big fan of hers. |
05/10/2000 | Gov. Ann Richards | Memorial Auditorium | Fourth in the series. |
06/05/2000 | Mary Tyler Moore | Memorial Auditorium | Last in the year 2000 series. I brought mom to this one, and it turned out to be quite disappointing. Mary basically “read” her lecture instead of talking from the heart. |
02/26/2001 | Lauren Bacall | Memorial Auditorium | In the 2001 series. Lauren was so bitter. I felt sorry for her after attending this. |
06/04/2001 | Maya Angelou | Memorial Auditorium | Superb! |
04/05/2002 | David Sedaris | Memorial Auditorium | Hysterical! |
